Shanti Sosienski
Thursday, July 6, 6:00 pm

Women Who Run is a collection of profiles of women runners from around the world. There are stories about the girl-next-door, about a cancer survivor, an Olympian from Kenya, and a Muslim journalist, among others—women who have nothing in common but their passion for putting one foot in front of the other.

Shanti Sosienski will read the opener to her book and one chapter about a Muslim woman who has used running throughout her life to help give her strength while dealing with oppression while living in Pakistan and then later in America. The runner, Asra Nomani, was a Wall Street Journal reporter and a good friend of Danny Pearl, who was killed while covering the war against terrorism.

Shanti Sosienski writes for numerous magazines such as Men's Journal, Outside, National Geographic Adventure, FHM, Self , and Marie Claire. She is currently working on her second book about the future of stem cell research.
