Riki Ott, Ph.D.
Thursday, April 21, 7:00 pm

Marine biologist and toxicologist Dr. Riki Ott has taken a second, longer term look at the effects of the oil spill resulting from the 1989 grounding of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Ott's book details how oil is more toxic to wildlife, and humans, than previously believed. Additionally, Ott presents ideas for reshaping our nation's energy future to lessen our dependence on oil.

Painting of Francois RabelaisThe Great Books Book Club
François Rabelais
Wednesday, April 27, 7:00 pm

Scholar, monk, physician, humanist, and accused heretic, François Rabelais is known as much for his ribald humor as his insight. This month's book club meeting explores Rabelais' works and his influence on western society. Gary Hunt from Iconoclast Bookstore will lead the discussion.

The Great Books Book Club meets monthly, generally on the fourth Wednesday, at The Community Library and is free and open to all.
