The Great Books Book Club
William Shakespeare
Tuesday, October 27, 7:00 pm
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) wrote at least 37 plays, traditionally divided into comedies, histories, and tragedies. Besides creating vivid characters of all types (from kings to pickpockets), Shakespeare is known especially for his deep understanding of human nature that has meaning beyond his time and place.
Suggested readings for this month's discussion, led by Gary Hunt from Iconoclast Bookstore, are any of Shakespeare's plays ( especially As you Like It which was performed here this summer) or books about Shakespeare such as the recent Shakespeare by Michael Wood or Will in the World by Stephen Greenblatt.
The Great Books Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month, and all are invited to join in the discussions.
