The Human Stain by Philip Roth:
A Book Discussion

Philip Roth's The Human Stain is the third in his trilogy of novels exploring the interweaving of American society and politics into people's personal lives. The premiere of the film version of The Human Stain will be held on October 9th as a benefit for The Community Library (see below).
In preparation for the premiere, the library is hosting a book discussion of The Human Stain in the library's lecture room. All are invited to attend.

The Human Stain: Party & Film Premiere
At Sun Valley Resort
Thursday, October 9 - 5:00 pm
The film premiere of Philip Roth's The Human Stain will be presented as a benefit for The Community Library at the Sun Valley Resort on October 9th.
The film, produced by valley local Tom Rosenberg, stars Academy Award winners Sir Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman, and was directed by Academy Award winner Robert Benton.
A cocktail party will be held prior to the premiere. Following the film, producer Tom Rosenberg will discuss the film, and desserts and coffee will be served.
5 to 6:30 pm
Cocktails and hors d'Oeuvres Buffet on the Lodge Terrace
$100 per person, includes Film Premiere
7 to 8:45 pm
Screening of "The Human Stain" at the Sun Valley Opera House
Tickets will be available at The Community Library starting September 19th.

Diane Josephy Peavey and her husband, John, run the Flat Top Sheep Co. ranch near Carey, Idaho. Peavey, whose weekly radio reports and recently published book Bitterbrush Country have provided the public with a glimpse into ranch life, will provide background and perspectives on the sheep ranching traditions of the Wood River Valley.

Jim Irons: Idaho's Writer-in-Residence

Jim Irons, Idaho's official Writer-in-Residence (also referred to as the State Poet or State Writer), will read from his poetry at The Community Library.
Irons, chosen by an outside blue ribbon panel which included Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner Annie Proulx, is an Idaho native whose poetry often celebrates the simple pleasures of life, and especially life in Idaho.
