Gay Salisbury
Thursday, July 10, 7:00 pm

Gay Salisbury, co-author along with with fellow journalist and cousin Laney Salisbury, will present an illustrated talk centering on their new book, The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic.

Drawing on oral histories, government documents, and previously unpublished photographs, the Salisburys present the history, context, and drama surrounding the 1925 diphtheria outbreak in Nome, Alaska. Their book is the first adult book on the subject in nearly four decades.

Tuesday, July 22, 7:00 pm

The Community Library will commemorate the birthday of Nobel laureate Ernest Hemingway with a multimedia presentation by Chris Millspaugh, the Regional History Librarian for the library.

Millspaugh will focus on Hemingway's life in Idaho, including little known anecdotes from his contemporaries and many never published historical photos.

The Regional History Department contains a wealth of information on the history of Ketchum, Sun Valley, and the surrounding area, including print material, photographs, and other items related to Ernest Hemingway and his life in Sun Valley and Ketchum.
