Whale Island:Notes from a place I never meant to leave
Daniel Hays
Thursday, June 6, 6:00 PM
Daniel Hays is drawn to meeting the sea on its own terms. With his wife and 11-year old stepson, he moved to a small wilderness island off the coast of Nova Scotia. There they found living off the sea to be not as hard as other aspects of their lives.
Join Daniel Hays as he reads from his book and recounts tales from his family's adventures during this free slide lecture at The Community Library.

The Dialogues
by Plato
Tuesday, June 11, 7:00 PM
Plato, Socrates, Hippias, and others tried to deduce the essence of truth in everything from commonplace actions to forms of government. Their debates were recorded by Plato and still serve as models of thought that can carry over into actions, inherently good and beneficial, or bad and counterproductive.
This week's discussions will focus on three of Plato's Dialogues, the Apology, the Symposium, and the Crito. Come join Gary Hunt of Iconoclast Bookstore as he leads the discussion of The Dialogues which is open to all.
