Idaho's (and America's) First Jewish Governor
Wednesday, August 7, 7:00 pm
Idahoans made headlines when, in 1914, they elected Moses Alexander to be the first Jewish governor in the United States. Two authorities on Governor Alexander will team up to present slides and a lecture illuminating this historical period.
Dr. David Crowder, author of six books and authority on Idaho's eleventh governor, will present Moses Alexander, Idaho's Prohibition and WWI Governor.
Dylan McDonald, a graduate student at Boise State University currently working on a project to preserve the papers of Gov. Alexander, will present Jewish Reactions to the Election of Moses Alexander.
This program is supported by the Idaho Humanities Council and Boise Cascade Corp.

Tour of Homes 2002
The Community Library Association
Saturday, August 10, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Complimentary Tea: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Library
The Community Library Association is proud to present the 24th Tour of Homes, a showcase of architecturally distinctive and uniquely landscaped homes in the Sun Valley area.
The owners of these showcased homes have generously opened their homes for the day to help The Community Library, a nonprofit organization, provide free library services to the public. The Library receives no tax money and is funded by events such as the Tour of Homes, proceeds from the Gold Mine Thrift Shop, and donations both large and small.
Your ticket to the Tour of Homes provides an opportunity to tour some of the most beautiful private homes in the area while supporting free public library services. Please join in supporting this wonderful resource!

The Nicomachean Ethics
by Aristotle
Tuesday, August 13, 7:00 PM
This month's discussion focuses on the book some feel provide much of the basis for the behaviors we admire today. Aristotle, however, pursued the questions of whether these behaviors might not be intrinsically practical, rather than simply "moral" or "right."
Bookclub discussions are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM and are open to all.
