Kathie Rivers
Tuesday, March 6, 7:00 pm
Wood River Valley resident Kathie Rivers, traveler, outdoorswoman, and author of the popular "Mile by Mile" series of travel guides, will present slides and talk in depth about the canyon country of southeast Utah.
Rivers' "Mile-by-Mile" guide to central Idaho has proven popular and has met with critical acclaim, and this guide provides "an in depth guide to the area's national parks and monuments, hiking routes, mountain bike rides, campgrounds, and picnic areas, unique geologic features, ancient rock art and ruins, backcountry drives, local history, curious stories, and flora and fauna along the way".

"Women's Lives, The Movies, and The Pulitzer Prize"
The Hours by Michael Cunningham
Wednesday, March 21, 7:00 pm
Michael Cunningham draws upon Virginia Woolf's last days as a starting point for his prize winning novel, which delves into the lives of two 20th century American women.
Inventively drawing on Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway, Cunningham's book completes the bridge to more contemporary America from January's and February's book selections. Participants may also want to rent the film Mrs. Dalloway to add another dimension to the discussion.
The movie version of The Hours, starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Ed Harris is scheduled to be released in 2001.
