Sheep Tales Gathering
Trailing of the
Sheep Festival
Saturday, October 14
6:30-7:30 PM and 8:00-9:00 PM
The Community Library is pleased to host two sessions of storytelling and memory sharing of the sheep history in the Wood River Valley. The public is invited to bring sheep photos and stories to share, or simply to listen and enjoy.

- Center for Basque Studies Basque sheepherders played an integral part in the sheep ranching tradition of the Wood River Valley. The University of Nevada at Reno is a focal point for Basque study, including the Consortium for the Study of Basque Women.
- Livestock Guardian Dog Great Pyrenees dogs are still used to guard sheep in the mountains of Idaho. Information on the guarding characteristics of this breed can be found at the web site of the Great Pyrenees Club of America.

David Hays

David Hays founded the National Theatre of the Deaf and is known throughout the theater world for his award winning set designs. A world class sailor, Hays became a best selling author with the account of the journey he undertook with his son of sailing around Cape Horn in a small boat.
Hays recently embarked on a more personal journey, seeking his bar mitzvah at age 67. Today I Am A Boy, a memoir, details how Hays, among his life's other tribulations, dealt with studying the Jewish faith along with classmates only 12 years old.
