Walk Toward Oregon: A Memoir
Alvin M. Josephy, Jr.
Sunday, June 25, 3:00 PM
Noted historian and author Alvin M. Josephy, Jr. made his way into Harvard only to see his studies prematurely ended by the Great Depression. After finding work as an office boy, Mr. Josephy's life turned when he became a journalist, interviewing Leon Trotsky and documenting the brutality of war as a Marine Corps. correspondent on Iwo Jima and Guam.
After briefly charting the suburbanization of America as a writer for Time, he became interested in conservation and the plight of Native Americans, merging these concerns by running a summer camp for Indian children at his ranch in eastern Oregon.

Ridley Pearson
Thursday, June 29, 6:00 PM
Ridley Pearson has done it again, creating another suspense-filled thriller which, in the words of Booklist's Bill Ott, jumps "from marvelously detailed micromoments of forensic discovery" to "a spectacularly choreographed chase scene" and doesn't stop there. Join us at The Community Library as Ridley Pearson reads from and discusses his newest novel, Middle of Nowhere.
