Join Whittaker as he introduces his new autobiography, Life On The Edge, an account not only of his life's highs but also of his lows, his love of the environment, and of the experiences that shaped the vibrant life he continues to lead today.

This photograph by Gilbert Roberts, from the book Americans On Everest authored by James Ramsey Ullman and published by J.B. Lippincott Co., shows Jim Whittaker and Nawang Gombu shortly after their successful climb to the summit of Mt. Everest on May 1, 1963.

Americans On Everest is an account of the American Mount Everest Expedition of 1963 led by Norman Dyhrenfurth, and is one of the many mountaineering and related titles held in both the general and Regional History collections of The Community Library.
