Living With Grizzlies: Perspectives On
Living With Bears Gained At The McNeil River State Game Sanctuary In Alaska
Larry Aumiller
Thur., April 22, 7:00 pm
For the past 23 years, Larry Aumiller has managed brown bears and brown bear watchers at the world famous bear viewing area in Alaska's McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. The McNeil River Sanctuary is the most famous site in the world for viewing and photographing wild brown bears. Aumiller is recognized as a world authority on bear behavior and is co-author, with Tom Walker, and photographer for the acclaimed book, River of Bears.
The McNeil River Sanctuary has an unblemished record for both bear and human safety under the management program developed by Larry and his colleagues at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Larry will be showing some of the most beautiful and unique slides ever taken of bears and will share insights he's gained into bear behavior and how humans can safely interact with wild grizzly bears.
Funded by the National Wildlife Federation.
Webspinner's Note: Brown bears and grizzly bears are considered by biologists to be same species, Ursus arctos. Reintroduction of grizzly bears is proposed for the wilderness of Central Idaho.
