6pm - Wildfire Preparedness through a Fire-Adapted Community

Tue October 22, 2013

Event Description:
Living in Idaho, we know that wildfires are part of our forests. While we don't know where these wildfires will spring up, we do know where our communities are. Upfront planning can go a long way toward protecting the places we live. The recent Beaver Creek Fire in the Wood River Valley left many wondering how we can be better prepared to deal with wildfires in and around our communities. Join the Idaho Conservation League on Tuesday, Oct 22, in Ketchum to discuss what it means to be a fire-adapted community. Ketchum Fire Chief Mike Elle will present the challenges faced and lessons learned during the Beaver Creek Fire. We'll follow with a panel discussion and Q&A to better understand how we can plan for future fire events in the Wood River Valley. Date: October 22nd. Doors open at 5:45 pm, and the presentation starts at 6. Light refreshments will be provided.
