Dr. Dakkak was working to mobilize efforts to provide emergency reproductive health care, but also important psychosocial serves to affected populations. Dr. Dakkak also assessed the situation on the Egypt-Libya border and established humanitarian service programs targeting refugees and migrant workers. In April 2011, she traveled to Benghazi during the Libya conflict and conducted an inter-agency needs assessment focusing on women and girls, establishing the UNFPA presence inside Libya and programs to address reproductive health services.
