Library entrance, June 2007

The Community Library is a unique non-profit organization providing free library services to the public. We are not tax supported, and there are no fees, fines, or other restrictions on who may take out books. Whether you live in Ketchum or Sun Valley, nearby Hailey or Bellevue, New York, London, or Kathmandu, you are welcome to use the Library.

 

The Smithsonian is coming to the Community Library!

The Community Library will host for Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit: Between Fences May 23 through July 4, 2009

Steve Trimble ~ Bargaining for Eden  The Fight for the Last Open Spaces in America
Bargaining for Eden
explores the tension between community and development in what Stephen Trimble terms "the Middle-Aged West."  Trimble looks for common ground as open space shrinks in 21st Century America.  In this talk, he tells provocative stories, shows slides, and reads excerpts from the text, all aimed a creating conversation.

No guide books needed here! Travel unbeaten paths with professor, photographer, and author Paul Liebhardt who will share entertaining tales of his sojourns around the globe, all illustrated with slides from exotic locales.

Walter Kiechel, former managing editor of Fortune and senior vice president and editorial director, Harvard Business School Publishing, with primary responsibility for the Harvard Business Review, will be our guest speaker.

Jim Johnson ~ First Six Months Of The Obama Administration.

Mr. Johnson is a keen observer of American politics and economics. He is a businessman with a very strong public service and public policy background.

Boulder Mountain Clayworks hosts and evening with artist David DeVillier.

During our weekly Story Time in the Children's Library we will have a book release party for Milton the moose, the newest M. C. Eccles book about a musical moose who yearns to join Sun Valley Summer Symphony.  Join us for cookies and lemonade, a musical petting zoo, an artistic video-reading of the book, and book-signing with the author.

The 30th Annual Tour Of Homes Opening Party at the lovely home of Kip Nelson in Adam’s Gulch. Reservations are $250 and include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a special guest speaker.

Boulder Mountain Clayworks hosts and evening with ceramic artist Josh DeWeese.
